Catherine D. Sheehan
“Attorneys are like coaches, helping clients to cross the finish line of any legal problem. As a top ranked trial lawyer with twenty years of litigation experience, let me be your coach.”

Catherine D. Sheehan

Attorney

Catherine “Cat” Sheehan is a seasoned trial attorney with over twenty years of legal experience who has taken hundreds of cases to verdict and judgment in jury and bench trials in state and federal court. Since the beginning of her career, Cat has consistently been identified as one of the top attorneys in her field with recognition from Super Lawyers, Leading Lawyers and the National Trial Lawyers Association which named her one of the top 40 trial attorneys under the age of 40 in Illinois.

Following her own divorce, Cat felt called to pursue a career in matrimonial law to represent clients in all aspects related to divorce including complex financial issues, maintenance (alimony), child support, money tracing and asset identification, business valuation, debt allocation and income verification. She also helps clients to prepare premarital and postmarital agreements.

As a mother of three and the former vice-president of operations for one of the largest child advocacy organizations in Illinois, Cat is passionate about issues impacting children in divorce proceedings including designing parenting schedules, allocating responsibilities between parents, and making sure that the best interests of children are considered first and foremost.

At the beginning of any case, Cat sits down with her clients and identifies their goals. She then works with them to create a strategy to meet those goals. “I am not interested in just getting my clients over the finish line of their divorce. I want to make sure that I am setting them up for success for what happens after their divorce is finalized. I see my role as part lawyer, part coach – with the desired outcome being clients thriving post-divorce and excited about the next chapter of their lives.”

When not practicing law, Cat enjoys being with her family, cooking, arranging flowers, traveling and riding horses.
